    I found them much more useful than clerics since they pair really well with extremely offensive teams, couldn't do anything but laugh at my 3 cavalry 2 wereowl team doing 20 knight's pursuit per battle, they are also perfect for disarming those "witch ice coffin" team comps the game likes to throw at you here and there

    Mid game Thieves struggles because majority of enemies either have multi hit attacks or true strike but it you endure the mid game and invest on them on the late game they'll be dodging literally everything thanks to some high level items.

    honestly most units in the game are very tedious to minmax where the work is not as rewarding as just spamming 3 cavalries, or 3 sellswords or 3 wyvern knights who would obliterate most enemy teams. Feels like units epsecialy mercs in Albion and Bastorias are very unintersting and unexplored due to the fact that you get them way late in the game. and adding them to your team woud probably open alot of possible team comps yes but again not as rewarding as just spamming the same units 3 times in one team. Feesl ike these units are intended to be used by enemies and spam 5 of them each wave they throw at you.

    I like this video game. Best from Atlus and Sega. I was playing this for two weeks, training my army, got Amalia early for greater combat chances, and enjoyed the story. Been all over the place to get different fighters. I use the first to second to third turn conditions to help since I need to outsmart the enemies.

      For someone like a wyvern rider, I use the two action points attacks first if the health is weaker or if it has not been brought down.

    I've found it useful to target positions or types when trying to buff specific individuals. As with the Witch's magic conferral; if you have a line of 3 in back and a tank up front; you can have your conditions to be "Back Row" and "Cavalry" if you want to target the Doom knight that's in the back row while ignoring the Sainted knight in the front row. If you end up with another cavalry in the back, this will target whichever goes first, or you can set the conditions to "Back Row" and "Full Column" to make sure that you target the unit behind the Sainted knight (in our example, using the Sainted knight in front as a tank). If you have 5 units in the squad and the back row has multiple of the same, my suggestion would be to initiative fix them individually so you know which will go first and will thus get the buff.

    If the great knight is for travelling purpose, you already have wereowl that have flying which ignores a lot of things, featheredbow would be better for blinding dps and a dodge tank but if you're after the wild rush which is still strong..

    The ability to hit a whole column is underrated, and poisoning is an excellent cherry on top. Travis is a better evade tank, but his damage isn't as good as the Foxes. Putting them on the same team is the best of both worlds to me.

    I wish we got more unit slots. I dont feel comfortable having story characters on the bench. Even if you have all 10 unit slots fully upgraded and everyone promoted, I still had about 1000 honors by the time I completed the game and just started spending them by arbitrarily hiring mercs to guard towns.

    For me, there is no practical reason to build a Rogue for DPS, at best it can after a full round has occurred, start killing 1 enemy for 1 AP a turn with too much PP cost and setup. It basically plays 5th fiddle as a DPS build, below Breaker, Great Knight, Landsknecht that can easily self buff + sweep or any AOE build. But it's nice that you can make a DPS Rogue build, but we are doing it as a fun gimmick, not actually recommended for those that struggle at the game.

    You probably know this already, but for Chole and Ridiel I would make sure they both has at least one Blue PP so when the fight ends Chole will use first aid on Ridiel so it trigger Ridiel's selfless heal and heal the partly. Also for your Virginia You can take take it a step further and use the Lapis Pendant, and the White and Black Cat-Hood to use the skill Quick Impetus for your Juggernaut.

    IMO these arent the 2 best ways the rogue. Their best roles: 1. debuff with shadowbite for dmg mitigation. 2. evade tanking. combine with power belt or defensive gauntlet/ring to ensure he survives truestrikes. Theres really no point in building rogues for dmg. Master's gauntlets are better on board nukers like the lindes, yunifi, hilda, rolf or mandrin (w/trappers bow). Toxic throw is crap except for galerius while active steal is just costly (since it just steals 1 AP) which makes it niche (again just useful vs. galerius). Passive steal is useful and cheap, especially vs. amalia and if you have spare AP after a shadowbite On the werewolf, its easy to place him on any squad. Basically, dont look at him as a dmg dealer but as support (like a poor mans gilbert who can do dmg). You want Govil to go early and to be on the same row as your board nuker. Then he goes early, buffs the board nuker with bestral howl and weakens an enemy. Then, he wraps up after the board nuker with killing pursuit.

    Virginia was already good pre-update so I'm confident with better gear and fine tuning some tactics, it could be a lot better and viable than it is already.

      I only discovered the new herald options after first playthrough. Not sure if any of them were unlocked because I finished a run or if because the run was on expert? Honestly wish I could help more, but I didn't pay enough attention 🙃

    Great video :) A Virginia setup I really like so far is Parry Shield, Phantom Shield, and 4 passive points. The synergy with parry shield and the rest of her kit is super nice!

    i think this is inefficient as building around a single-target striker is inefficient. better to build around board nukes or at the very least row/column nukers like the great knight you have there. virginia is better off as the tank instead of the team's main offense. though yes for fun, it works.

      I 100% agree! If you are looking to mow down any unit you come across in the story, building around charge attacks/board clears is the way to go. However, if we are just focusing on the pve/story side of things, for the most part, the difficulty of the game doesn't require you to go this route to beat it. So, as you also mentioned, fun things like this can work as well! No doubt Virginia is much better just slotted as a tank, but I want to encourage people to experiment and play how they want. If you have the most fun using comps that clear boards and rows, perfect! I do love those comps as well.

      If you are looking for a unit just to slot in there, I have recently been having a lot of fun with Vikings. I think their aoe defense down is super nice to have when your main carries are dealing attack damage so it will help power up the great knight and virginia's damage. Another unit that works in pretty much any squad is the Sorceress. Their cc with ice bolt can be super useful in a comp like this if you set the conditions to prioritize the backline and units that are not frozen. Their magick conferral and true sight buff are always nice to have!

    I only thought about putting Berserkers in the backline literally at the end of the game when I wanted to remake all my units for the final battle. Morard was such a bad tank for the unique (named) Bestral unit, so I put him in the backline with Remona. I wish I did that with Bruno way before. Bruno's unit was always the worst when it comes to survival because he's both the tank and the DPS in his team.

    The initiative buff is the most powerful aspect of wereowl. It's like a lips ring that's not a start of battle skill (so you can have other more OP start of battle skills), that costs 2 AP and doesn't use PP leaving her with PP for utility.

    Me sitting here for 20 minutes trying to set everyones tactics to what i want them to do then i get in a battle and no one does what i want so if a skill cost 3 AP and i use the skill once then the mage or witch for example then thats it i cant do anything else the the rest of the fight and PP determines how many turns you have per fight? Im so confused this games awesome im late game albion but i feel like me not understanding how to make these tactics work im loosing out on alot of enjoyment like being able to make some crazy unit that destroys everything

    This is the one unit in the game i just cannot get behind. I can make them sort of function in a bestral unit. I'll try them again later as a second flying unit and see if that works better.

    The one annoyance is with their low HP and flying vulnerability to arrows, they take insane damage from arrow assists to the point a single arrow volley will take out the wereowl before they can even do anything in combat. One of my most effective teams was full Bestral (surprise surprise). One Werebear and one Werefox in front, then Werewolf, Wereowl and second Werefox in back. One fox is dodge tank, back fox is support. Wereowl Restore's supports fox's PP after she uses Lip's Ring to grant my low initiative Werebear max initiative for 3PP, which then allows him to use his Sniper's Amber Lens to give guaranteed hit and guaranteed crit with either his Round Swing which will take out any fliers or scouts or swordmasters without fail, or Earthshaker if his HP is under half to hit everyone super hard. Also, gave my owl the Old Witch's Ring to negate a magic attack against them to give +2PP (which...sadly never procs because the magic enemies are usually dead because after werebear attacks, werefoxes quickly attacks, follows up and then werewolf finishes things off. Owl also has Cardinal's Mace for Holy Cradle- front row in case of magic users and back row in case of archers. Granted this is Tactician and not Expert or True Zenoiran, but I had to stop using the team 'cause they steamrolled everything except a heavily armored front row or an enemy wereowl that dispelled the Lip's Ring buff at the start. Though even without it, the team did rather well.

    foxes are arguably the worst bestral (her or werebears) but still a decent evade tank that has blinds. The issue is there are alot of better evade tanks and alot of better blinders. Main edge for them is they are an evade tank that can use the best weapon type in the game (spears). I do think bestrals are solid. Werewolves in particular are underrated and are misunderstood..

    Agreed berserkers are for the backline. They are nukers. Not tanks. Excellent when joined by a sorceress or elven archer. Cavalry slayer prevents dmg because you remove AP. you can just set it to cavalry->1 AP or more. This means you dont need to heal because the enemy loses their attack.

    Wereowls are one of the 2 most annoying enemies in the game. Good healer, tank and support. A-tier. My fave partner for the wereowl is a featherbow (raenys) for more shining winds. Put both in the frontline and add the nuker with masters gauntlets to fill up that row.

    I've had a thought over the course of my TZ playthrough recently. I've been having a good look around to get opinions for team comps broadly and class tier lists specifically. Basically my thought was, the discussions going forward should probably distinguish ratings for actual stage battles vs static arena battles. Passives and valor skills are huge but have no bearing in the arena for example. What are your thoughts on tier lists for each specific scenario? Also, great music choice! (Edit) Hp recovery is niche in the arena and can be situationally useful, whereas on longer chains of battles in stages it's much more useful and therefore dedicated healer classes could be ranked differently in each context. Also, just had a look at your channel, given the music choice in this video, any chance you'll be covering Engage in the future? Thanks!

      Yeah there are certain things that are more valuable in the coliseum which arent as valuable in the story battles. For example, elven archers are typically my MVPs in the coliseum but people dont hold them in high regard in general most likely due to their "meh" role in story battles. There are units like virginia i'd consider excellent for story due to her dual shield valor skill but i find her useless for coliseum fights.

      @@TheRobversion1 I'm right there with you on elven archers! High initiative with the ability to both do a mag buff to another character as an active point! The fact that it's an active and doesn't have the "limited" tag means that the receiver can also stack with a witch's passive point conferral or even keen call. This ability is slept on for elven archers and is huge for big combo damage in the arena. But as you said, there just aren't big enough targets in story battles to warrant that extra effort. And I also agree for the princess. Two shields significantly hurts her build potential because the shield slot prevents her from using specialty items which are the meta in the arena. At the same time even with 2 shields the game only draws stats from the highest of the 2 and not the combination. So even though her passive makes her tanky, for arena battles you want a legionnaire because they are just better at protecting your combo damage dealers through a mix of their team guard skills as well as their guards being heavy guards unlike Virginia's intrinsic light guard.

      @@RandyNgelale the real reason elven archers are my mvps as they counter the 2 most annoying units: featherbows and wereowls. Pure field is underrated. Quick cure is nice. They can also be the healer as they're one of the few units who can equip the mitres and scarletts ribbon + endless heal. Agreed on virginia. I disagree though that legionnaires make better tanks. Evade tanks are what i find effective. Especially flying evade tanks with shield like feathershield/swords. Most stuff will.miss them aside from truestike. And when they get truestriked, they just guard. even the worst evade tank imo is better than a legionnaire. Like i'd take travis over hodrick as my tank.

      @@TheRobversion1 sorry I should have clarified, I meant tanks in the sense of shielding the backline from ranged attacks. On featherbows especially - blindness as a status is probably ok but the way it is implemented with featherbows is a bit too strong. Like you can just chew through so many AP and PP just by blinding someone since they still have to act even though it's a guaranteed miss. There are counters but teams have to be built for it in a way that fire, freeze or poison don't have to. Pure field is a good example. Running it means giving up the highly competitive "start of battle" effect slot just to counter a single passive - before attack ability. Seems like a rough trade off. If there are 2 feather bows then 🤷🏿‍♂️. Also something hilarious is that there isn't really a good way for a shield unit to block against an blind attacker since the commands in the tactics menu for the subject of the guard not the attacker so you can inadvertently turn a guaranteed miss into real damage since guarding someone causes the blind attack to actually hit 😂. (Thanks for the responses. Don't mean to keep spamming this chat. I do appreciate the opportunity to share thoughts with someone on a niche game i enjoy. Cheers)

      @@RandyNgelale it is a tradeoff. This is why my teams are built around it. No need to equipment swap and my teams can handle all opponents: coliseum, pvp, story..i lose the power of start of battle effect but yeah my teams just can handle anything. Yeah hard to cover vs. blinds. Thats why i dont use cover in my blind + master gauntlets team..i just rely on blinds with guard order (gilbert) as backup once the blinds are depleted. No worries. I like discussing the game.

    Considering on getting the game but I hear it’s too easy so I gotta ask how is the difficulty especially on TZ? A decent challenge with a fun amount of strategic variety or is it too easy?

      I will say this game is definitely on the easier side. It's not going to give the same difficulty as FE: Engage maddening mode. However, if you are looking for a game to scratch that strategy itch, I do think this game does it well. The manner in which is just a little different. For me, the fun of the game is to find interesting comps. There are obviously combos and characters that just break the campaign and run over most enemies. But, with the game being on the easier side, that also means there are a ton of comps you can think up that can work. And there is a lot of satisfaction of creating a comp, making their tactics, and seeing it all work out. If you are down for more of an RTS/autobattler style game instead of a turn-based strategy rpg like Fire Emblem, then I would definitely give it a shot. The demo is also around 6/8 hours long I think so I would also highly recommend trying that before buying!

      Its more than a decent challenge if you dont grind and try to climb up the coliseum early. The coliseum is the toughest challenge in the game But its not so challenging to conquer it endgame (which alot of people tend to do). Its very challenging however when you do it mid-game.

    Love the team! Gladiators and witches make great use of the angel plume in the early game, since it often makes them go from last to first in combat. I'm using a very similar setup in early game TZ, with Ochlys on the frontline. Her -20 evade debuff on attack gets to put in work, especially before you unlock 'Focus Sight' on your witch to reliably hit fliers. Since Ochlys herself flies, she also avoid their double evasion against grounded melee, mitigating the unit's biggest weakness!

    It's not clear to me at 11:42 why you have a second condition for heal instead of a first condition. Isn't is just "traverse list until conditions are both met and if that never happens, standby?" Thus I'm not clear why you would ever want a second condition but not a first condition. Setting the heals to less than 100% by default was what made me dig into these a bit more. So tired of healers wasting AP / PP to heal a tiny amount of damage. The actual showing of how the rules in this example play out with %HP is really well done.
